1900s Germantown Pictorial Sampler

Circa 1900 Navajo Germantown pictorial sampler, still mounted on its original wooden loom. Small samplers were often left on the loom to show both the weaver’s design work and the construction of the warp. Two houses, one red and one light blue, are woven against a gray ground with black rooflines, chimneys, windows, and doors. The remaining warp threads, heddle rod, and loom offer a rare view of the Navajo weaving process.
