Large Navajo Ganado Red Weaving

Handwoven Navajo wool weaving by Lorraine Begay, featuring a bold contemporary Ganado Red composition in red, black, gray, and white. The design is organized around a large central stepped medallion with a rectangular geometric center, surrounded by repeated hooked, stepped, and angular motifs.

The broad red field is framed by multiple contrasting borders, including serrated gray-and-white bands and a strong black outer edge. The symmetry, dense patterning, and scale give the weaving a monumental presence while retaining the strong red-ground character associated with the Ganado tradition.
