1970s Tohono O’Odham Basket

1970s Tohono O’odham basket with a low cylindrical form and bold geometric patterning. Hand-coiled from beargrass and yucca, with dark devil’s claw forming broad stepped and angular designs around the exterior and interior walls.

The basket has a strong architectural shape, with a tightly wrapped rim accented by spaced devil’s claw stitches. The restrained two-color palette emphasizes the geometric design and highlights the natural texture of the plant materials.

Good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age.
