1920年代のアキメル・オオダム族のバスケット。ヤナギとデビルズクロウを使い、手作業でコイル編みされています。幅広のボウル状の本体には、中心から外側に向かって広がる力強い渦巻き状の幾何学模様が施されています。
「川の人々」を意味するアキメル・オオダム族は、かつてピマ族と呼ばれ、ヒーラ川とソルト川沿いでアリゾナ州を代表するバスケット編みの伝統を築きました。ヤナギが温かみのある自然な地色となり、濃色のデビルズクロウを編み込むことで、対照的な文様と縁取りが作られています。
