Selling vintage Native American jewelry or Navajo weavings?
Since 1976, our buyers have purchased from private collectors almost every day. Email us photos and the price you're hoping for, and we'll take a look.

What we're looking for
Most of our vintage inventory comes from private collections, and these are the pieces we buy most often.

Vintage Native American jewelry
About 1900s to 1970s
Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and Pueblo silver and turquoise: squash blossom necklaces, concho belts, bracelets, rings, bolos and more.

Antique Navajo weavings
About 1860s to 1960s
Classic-period and transitional blankets, Germantown weavings, and early regional rugs.
We also buy contemporary jewelry and weavings at times, along with Pueblo pottery and Southwestern baskets, so feel free to send those too.
What we're generally not buying
Knowing this up front saves you a wait.
- Hopi kachinasWe buy all of our kachinas directly from the Hopi carvers themselves, so we don't purchase them from collections.
- Navajo-made or imitation kachinasWe don't buy or sell them.
- Most newer jewelry and weavingsWhen work is still being made today, we prefer to buy it directly from the artists and weavers. We do make exceptions, so you're welcome to ask.
- AppraisalsWe aren't licensed appraisers and don't offer appraisal or valuation services.
How it works
Everything starts with an email. Please don't ship anything until we've asked you to.
Email photos and your price
Send clear photos to sell@garlands.com with the price you're hoping to receive. For larger collections, group shots are fine to start.
We review your pieces
If we're interested, we'll reply with next steps. If you don't have a price in mind, we'll give you a ballpark based on the photos.
Ship them to us
If the ballpark works for you, we'll send shipping instructions. Pack everything well and use a trackable service.
We make a firm offer
We inspect each piece in person. Our ballparks are conservative, so if a piece is better than the photos showed, we'll raise our offer.
Get paid by check
Accept and we mail your check. If you decide not to sell for any reason, we ship everything back at our expense.
What to include in your email
Good photos and a few details let us give you an answer much faster.
Jewelry
- The front of each piece, in good light
- The back, including any stamps, hallmarks or signatures
- A coin or ruler next to it for scale
- The turquoise mine and artist, if known
Weavings
- The whole weaving, laid flat, front and back
- Close-ups of the weave, edges and corners
- Any stains, holes or repairs
- Dimensions, width × length
Every piece
- The price you're hoping to receive
- When and where it was acquired
- Any paperwork, receipts or history
- Your name, city and state
Why we ask for a price: it's hard to value a piece accurately from photos, and you know best what you paid or what you're hoping for. If you truly have no idea, that's fine. If we're interested, we'll suggest a conservative ballpark, and a firm offer follows once we see the pieces in person.
When you'll hear from us
We read every submission. If we're interested, we'll be in touch within two weeks with next steps. We receive a great many offers and aren't able to reply to each one personally, so if you haven't heard from us by then, it means we'll have to pass this time. We appreciate your patience, and there's no need to follow up. We'll reach out if it's a fit.
Other ways to sell
For pieces outside what we buy, an auction house that specializes in Native American art is often the best way to get full value.
Questions
Can I bring my pieces to the store?
Please don't come in expecting a buyer to look at your pieces on the spot. We receive so many offers that we can only meet by appointment, and appointments are limited. The easiest way to start is by email.
If you're nearby and would rather not ship, email us at sell@garlands.com to request an in-person meeting. Please don't drop off pieces without an appointment; we can't accept anything left at either gallery unless we've approved it first.
Do you travel to see collections or estates?
No, we aren't able to travel to see collections or estates. Photos by email are the best way to start, even for large collections.
How do you pay?
We pay by check, mailed as soon as you accept our firm offer.
Do you buy outright or take consignments?
We prefer to buy collections outright. For larger collections or higher-priced pieces, we may offer a consignment option.
Can you tell me what my piece is worth?
We aren't licensed appraisers and don't offer appraisal or valuation services. If you'd like to sell, send photos and an asking price and we'll let you know if we're interested.
If you simply want to learn about a piece, such as what it is or whether it's authentic, you're welcome to email us and we'll share what we can. We receive a lot of requests, so a reply may take some time.
I'm an artist. Can I send you my work?
Yes. Email photos and details to sell@garlands.com, and make it clear that you're the artist. Tell us a little about yourself and your work. If we're interested in working with you, one of our buyers will reach out.
