1890年代 ナバホ族 トランジショナル織り 手紡ぎのウールを手織りし、手染めのアニリンレッドを地色にアイボリー、グレー、ブラックで表現。赤染料の自然なムラが見られます。アイボリーとブラックで縁取られた大きな階段状菱形の垂直な列が織物全体に続き、中央には濃色の十字が配され、その両脇には小さな矢印状のモチーフが並んでいます。両端は細い濃色の帯で仕上げられています。トランジショナル織りは、ナバホ族の織り手が自分たちのためのブランケットから交易商向けのラグへと制作の対象を移していった、1880年から1900年頃までの時期に制作されたものです。
