Cricket Kachina

Hopi Cricket (Susopa) Kachina doll carved from cottonwood root by Hopi Carver Jonathan Gaseoma. In Hopi tradition, Susopa is associated with the sounds of the natural world, particularly the presence of crickets whose songs mark seasonal change and the rhythms of warmer months. Old-style Kachinas are traditionally made for hanging, and this figure includes a loop on the back for wall display.
