Item #POT00580

Hopi Canteen by Kyle Kootswatewa, hand-coiled and traditionally outdoor fired. The front is hand painted with geometric Hopi designs representing rain clouds, rain, and the sun, arranged in a balanced panel composition with bold black linework and warm red accents. The natural clay body shows subtle firing variation, and the side handles are fitted with a cord in reference to traditional canteens, which were carried by a cord while walking.

About the artist

Kyle Kootswatewa
