1920s Tohono O’odham basket, hand-coiled from beargrass, yucca, and devil’s claw. The generously sized bowl features a subtle radiating geometric design and a warm, naturally aged patina.

The Tohono O’odham, “Desert People”, are Indigenous to the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona and northern Sonora, Mexico. Their basketry developed from plants gathered throughout the desert, with durable beargrass foundations, pale yucca stitching, and dark devil’s claw used to form contrasting designs.
