Eagle and Medicine Wheel Bracelet
Tribe: Hopi
hand-engraved double eagle motif with natural diamond eyes and beaks entwined with a Hopi medicine wheel. The eagle is a messenger of prayer and protector of people. A spectacular, deep red Mediterranean oxblood coral cabochon (35 carats) is set in the center. The coral is among the finest we’ve ever seen—intensely saturated, glassy, and full-bodied red. The bracelet weighs a 116.8 grams and is marked on the interior with John’s tobacco leaf signature, the 18k stamp, and the Kopavi shop mark, this bracelet reflects Coochyumptewa’s masterful balance of bold imagery and refined goldwork. Coochyumptewa used eagles frequently in his designs. He was affectionately known as “Eagle Boy”. This is a rare and significant piece by one of the most respected Hopi goldsmiths of his generation. This piece is featured on page 127 of Hopi Gold Hopi Silver by Zena Pearlstone, highlighting its significance.
Part of the historic Kopavi Collection, this bracelet has never been previously owned.
