Navajo Blanket Revival Weaving
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
Item #WN02829
Navajo Blanket Revival weaving in black, red, and deep blue stripes. A wide red center panel holds two radiating Spider Woman cross designs in black with gold and white accents, and black bands above and below each hold three grey crosses. Blanket revival weavings draw on the striped wearing blankets of the 19th century, when Navajo weavers made blankets as garments before shifting to rugs for the trading post market. Handwoven by Navajo artist Janice Vanwinkle.
