Antique Navajo (1920s) Weaving from the Bisti Trading Post located on the Bisti Badlands Region on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. This weaving features finely spun native wool that is both hand-carded and hand-spun, helping to create a very crisp and sharp design. The Bisti design is similar in many ways to a Teec Nos Pos design with some notable differences including pictorial elements and multi-layered borders. A limited amount of Bisti style weavings were produced in the early 20th century and are therefore rare to find, particularly in good condition. This design was originally woven by just five Navajo families who lived in the Bisti Badlands area on the Navajo reservation and delivered their weavings to the Bisti Trading Post. After the Bisti Trading Post closed, the Bisti design all but disappeared afterward.
