Vintage Hopi wicker basket woven on Third Mesa. Large open-form wicker baskets such as this are unusual, as Hopi weavers more commonly create flat plaques in this technique. The alternating zig-zag patterning and carefully balanced colors highlight the weaver’s artistry and control of form, creating both a functional and visually striking piece.
