Healing Hand Necklace
Tribe: Santo Domingo (Kewa)
Five-strand Santo Domingo heishi necklace by Joel Pajarito featuring finely cut turquoise and spiny oyster shell beads arranged in a traditional gradient, transitioning from warm orange tones at the top to turquoise along the lower strands. The strands are anchored by two “healing hand” pendants with turquoise and Mediterranean coral chip inlay, a distinctive element rooted in Pueblo design and a nod to Joel’s grandmother, Mary Lovato, who was known for these inlaid hands. Finished with a traditional clasp and silver beads, this piece reflects the precision and balance characteristic of contemporary Santo Domingo craftsmanship.
