Buffalo Girl Kachina

Hand-carved from cottonwood root and hand painted by Hopi artist Lloyd Honhongva, this Buffalo Girl (Mosairo Mana) Kachina represents the female counterpart to the Buffalo Kachina. Buffalo Girl accompanies the Buffalo Kachinas during ceremonial dances and reflects the importance of the buffalo in Hopi tradition, where prayers are offered for abundance, good health, and successful harvests.

Old-style Kachinas are traditionally made for hanging, and this carving includes a loop on the back for wall display.
