1970s Hopi Wicker Plaque

1970s Hopi wicker plaque woven in a shallow tray form with a bold concentric geometric design. The pattern radiates outward from a rectangular center into alternating bands of black, tan, cream, and muted reddish-brown, creating a strong sense of movement and symmetry.

Hopi wicker plaques are traditionally made using a rigid woven technique associated with Third Mesa basketry. This example has a broad 13-inch diameter and a finely patterned surface.
