1930s Red Mesa / Crystal
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1930s Navajo Red Mesa / Crystal weaving with the bold outlined diamonds and serrated geometry associated with early bordered regional designs. Red Mesa outline rugs are known for their diamond-based compositions and their continuation of the 1880s and 1890s Eyedazzler tradition, while early Crystal weavings are recognized for crisp bordered geometric layouts.
This weaving has condition issues, including holes and moth damage (see photos).
