Sterling Silver Hopi Overlay Pendant and Chain depicting a Deer figure, handcrafted by Phillip Honanie in 1982. In Hopi culture, the deer symbolizes gentleness, humility, and self-sacrifice, offering itself as a food source for the well-being of the people. Deer and Antelope Kachinas dance to ensure the perpetuation of the herds and to call for rain. As they move, their frosted breath is seen as a sign of approaching winter moisture. This pendant, rendered in Honanie’s signature overlay style, is hung from a handmade 20.5-inch Hopi link chain.

Part of the historic Kopavi Collection, this necklace has never been previously owned.
