Flute Player and Village Cuff
Tribe: Hopi
Sterling Silver Flute Player and Hopi Village Bracelet by Beauford Dawahoya (Hopi), ca. 1993.
This masterfully crafted sterling silver cuff by Beauford Dawahoya captures the essence of Hopi life and ceremony. The central scene depicts a traditional Hopi village with layered adobe dwellings. A line of Flute Players leads a ceremonial procession, their music a prayer for harmony and rain. Above the village, Tawa, the Sunface, watches over, while lightning and cloud symbols bring the promise of life-giving rain. Dawahoya’s precision overlay and intricate composition highlight the deep relationship between the spiritual and everyday life in Hopi culture.
Part of the historic Kopavi Collection, this bracelet has never been previously owned.
