Navajo Sunface Sculpture
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
Navajo sterling silver Sunface Kachina sculpture by Toby Henderson. The figure is constructed in a highly dimensional style with an elaborate feathered headdress, applied silver elements, extensive hand-stamped detailing, and a natural turquoise cabochon. The Kachina holds a sterling silver rattle and stands on an intricately decorated silver base.
Each feather is individually formed and finely hand stamped, with extensive tooling throughout the figure creating remarkable texture and depth.
Toby Henderson was a Navajo silversmith known for elaborate figural silverwork, particularly Kachinas and ceremonial figures. He passed away in 2019. This sculpture is signed “TH” and stamped “Handmade Sterling Navajo.”
