Badger Kachina

Hopi Badger (Honan) Kachina doll carved from cottonwood root by Jonathan Gaseoma. Honan is part of the Hopi Kachina tradition and is associated with the badger, an animal connected to the earth through its digging and burrowing nature. This carving reflects the continuation of Hopi cultural traditions through the work of a contemporary Hopi artist.

Old-style Kachinas are traditionally made for hanging, and this figure includes a loop on the back for wall display.
