Diamond Twill

This small Diamond Twill weaving, also known as a Two-Face weaving, by skilled Navajo artist Brenda Joshevama showcases the challenging reversible technique unique to Navajo textiles. The interlocking diamond pattern creates a bold, optical design that reverses colors on the opposite side, with deep blue, rich brown, and cream forming concentric diamonds across the entire field.

Handwoven with handspun wool using rich aniline dyes for the intense red and blue against natural cream, this piece demonstrates a precision, tight weave, and symmetry that highlight the weaver's mastery of this challenging double-faced twill structure.
