1940s Turquoise Concho Belt
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1940s Navajo sterling silver concho belt. The belt is composed of hand-stamped oval conchos and bowtie-shaped spacers, each decorated with traditional stamped designs and set with small natural American turquoise cabochons.
The oval conchos feature deeply stamped radiating centers, scalloped borders, and applied ropework details, giving the belt a strong dimensional quality and classic early Navajo appearance. The matching buckle is similarly decorated and set with four turquoise stones surrounding the center opening.
The silver retains a rich, naturally aged patina that highlights the handwork throughout. The conchos and spacers are mounted on a .75” wide black leather belt.
A substantial and highly wearable example of vintage Navajo silverwork with excellent visual presence and beautifully preserved character.
