Circa 1900 Navajo Germantown sampler weaving, still mounted on its original wooden loom. Germantown samplers were small demonstration weavings, often left on the loom to show both the weaver’s design work and the construction of the warp. Four green diamonds with cream centers and serrated red surrounds are set against a finely mottled black-and-cream field, divided by a central green and red arrow motif. The remaining warp threads, heddle rod, and loom provide a rare view of the Navajo weaving process.
