Larry Etcitty was born in Window Rock, Arizona, the capital of the Navajo Nation. He learned the art of jewelry-making from his mother and grandmother of the Nakaii family. As a young boy, he sat by their side, learning how to cut stones and create traditional turquoise cluster jewelry.
Larry proudly served as a paratrooper in the infantry with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked in construction for 21 years while making jewelry on the side.
Today, Larry is a sheepherder and makes beautiful traditional Navajo jewelry. He honors and carries forward the traditions passed down through his matriarchal line.
