1970s Tohono O’Odham Basket

1970s Tohono O’odham basket with a tall, slightly flaring form and bold geometric design. Hand-coiled from beargrass and yucca, with dark devil’s claw used to create the strong angular patterning that winds around the exterior and continues along the interior walls.

The basket is tightly woven with a dark wrapped rim and displays the strong graphic quality characteristic of Tohono O’odham basketry. Its unusually tall proportions give it a particularly sculptural presence.

Good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age.
