1940s Turquoise Concho Belt
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1940s Navajo sterling silver concho belt featuring oval conchos alternating with hand-stamped butterfly spacers, each set with natural American turquoise.
The oval conchos are beautifully worked with deeply stamped radiating centers, twisted-wire borders, scalloped edges, and additional stamped accents around the perimeter. Each is centered with a small turquoise cabochon. The coordinating butterfly spacers feature bold geometric stampwork and turquoise centers.
The matching buckle follows the same scalloped and twisted-wire design and is accented with two larger turquoise stones. The silver has developed a warm, naturally aged patina that highlights the extensive handwork throughout.
The conchos are mounted on a .75” black leather belt. A substantial and particularly attractive example of mid-century Navajo silverwork.
