Butterfly Maiden Kachina

Old-Style Butterfly Maiden, or Palhik Mana, carved by Patrick Poley. Palhik Mana is associated with springtime, fertility, beauty, and renewal, and is one of the most recognizable Hopi maiden figures. Butterfly symbolism in Hopi tradition is often connected with moisture, plant life, and the seasonal cycles that support growth. Old-style Kachinas are traditionally made for hanging, and this figure includes a loop on the back for wall display.
