1950s Turquoise Buckle
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
Circa 1950s sterling silver western-style belt buckle by master Navajo silversmith Kenneth Begay, featuring a finely executed radial fluted design that creates a bold, sunburst-like form. The center holds a natural turquoise stone, set in a smooth bezel. Kenneth Begay (1913–1977) was called the “Father of Contemporary Navajo jewelry.” Begay’s work is known for its clean lines and precise craftsmanship, and this piece reflects his refined, modernist approach to traditional Navajo silversmithing. The buckle remains in great condition with light surface wear consistent with age and use.
