1920s Red Mesa
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1930s Navajo Red Mesa Outline featuring bold geometric diamond medallions arranged along a strong vertical axis. Woven with hand-carded and hand-spun wool in natural sheep colors with aniline red and black dyes. The design showcases classic Red Mesa elements including stepped borders, outlined zigzag motifs, and traditional cross forms, all set against a soft variegated gray field. The weaving retains excellent color contrast and graphic impact with minor, age-appropriate wear consistent with its era. A striking early example of Red Mesa regional style.
