Navajo Yei Weaving

Navajo Yei Weaving with Five Yeis. The figures wear turquoise necklaces, holding a feathered arrow in each hand, with their dress alternating in rust and grey. Set on a natural tan background, the design is framed with serrated rust and black zigzag borders above and below. Woven by Myra Harvey, the weaver’s initials, “MH,” are woven into the upper right corner. Yei weavings draw on imagery of the Yé’ii, a group of Holy People (Diyin Dineʼé) called upon in healing sandpainting ceremonies.
