1890s Germantown Dazzler
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1890s Navajo Germantown Dazzler weaving with a vivid eyedazzler diamond pattern and bold terraced bands at each end. Woven with commercially spun Germantown yarns, this piece reflects the bright colors and highly graphic designs associated with late 19th-century Navajo Germantown weavings. The central field features repeated serrated diamonds in red, yellow, green, black, ivory, and dark blue, with multicolored fringe at both ends. Germantown Dazzlers are known for their intense color, optical movement, and transitional-period character, when Navajo weavers incorporated brightly dyed imported yarns into increasingly complex designs.
