Turquoise Bear Claw Squash Blossom
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
Navajo sterling silver bear claw squash blossom necklace, circa 1960s, featuring a single strand of hand-formed beads and a series of mounted natural, genuine bear claws. Each claw is paired with a carved turquoise bear form set in a rounded silver mount, creating a repeating motif along the length of the necklace. The naja is centered with a matching carved turquoise bear, framed by a stamped silver border. The reverse of the center medallion is set with an arrowhead. The combination of natural claws and stylized turquoise bears gives the piece a strong visual presence while maintaining a cohesive design. Finished with a traditional hook-and-eye closure and a naturally aged patina consistent with mid-century Navajo work.
