Ogre Woman Kachina

Hopi Ogre Woman (Soyok Wuhti) Kachina sculpture by Jon Cordero, hand-carved from cottonwood root and hand painted. The carving depicts Soyok Wuhti carrying her traditional crook and knife, with a detailed basket on her back. The basket’s cracked lid reveals carved fingers emerging from inside, adding an especially intricate detail to the kachina.
