1980s Tohono O’odham Plaque

1980s Tohono O’odham basket plaque. Traditionally hand-coiled from natural yucca and reddish-brown plant fibers over a bundled beargrass foundation, the basket features a flowing geometric design radiating from the center. An integrated woven loop allows it to be displayed on a wall.

Tohono O’odham basketry is created from plant materials gathered in the Sonoran Desert, continuing a weaving tradition passed between generations.
