Miniature Hopi Crow Mother Kachina, Angwusnasomtaka, by Hopi artist Kurt Ovah. Regarded as the Mother of All Kachinas, Crow Mother is a guardian of Hopi children and presides over their initiation into the Kachina tradition during the Powamuya Bean Dance. She is associated with germination, renewal, and the promise of the coming growing season.

Hand-carved from cottonwood root with her distinctive crow-wing headdress and a bowl held before her. Mounted on a painted cottonwood base and signed by the artist.
