Mormon Tea Kachina

Hand-Carved and Painted Hopi Mormon Tea (Hishlab) Kachina. Mormon tea (also known as ephedra, canutillo, or cowboy tea) refers to several native desert shrubs found across the American Southwest. The Hopi and other Southwestern Native American tribes have brewed the plant as both a social beverage and a traditional medicine. 

“Old-style” Kachinas are traditionally made with a loop or string so they can be hung on a wall for display.
