1940s Double Saddle Blanket
Tribe: Navajo (Diné)
1940s Navajo double saddle blanket woven with handspun wool in natural gray and ivory tones, accented by bold Valero Star motifs and stepped geometric elements in black, orange, red, and muted green. The design is divided into contrasting light and dark fields to accommodate use over a saddle. The wool shows the characteristic variegation and texture of handspun yarns from this period. A classic trading post–era saddle blanket consistent with its original utilitarian use.
