Broadface Whipper Bola Tie
Tribe: Hopi
Sterling Silver Bola Tie with Intricate Hopi Overlaid Design of a Broadface Whipper Kachina (Wuyak- Kuita). The Broadface Whipper is a disciplinary Kachina who maintains order during ceremonies. He carries yucca whips and uses them symbolically to enforce rules and respect. His striking, broad-faced mask and commanding presence reinforce his authority. The bola tie is finished with a figure-eight backing and handmade sterling silver tips with overlaid mudheads.
Coming from a private collection, this piece was handcrafted in 2012 by Hopi overlay artist, Bennett Kagenveama (d. 2025).
