1930s Sioux Pipe Bag

Plains beaded and quilled pipe bag, Sioux, circa 1930s, likely assembled from earlier components. The hide body is beaded around the rolled opening and along the neck with geometric motifs in classic lane stitch, leading to a fully beaded lower panel on both sides featuring bold diamond and stepped forms. Quilled elements appear at the drop and in the suspended slats, accompanied by tin cones with red horsehair accents and long hide fringe. The combination of beadwork, quillwork, and metal cones reflects traditional Plains decorative vocabulary, while the construction suggests a later assemblage incorporating earlier beaded sections.
