Fossilized Ivory

Fossilized Ivory is a rare and naturally aged material most often sourced from ancient walrus tusks or teeth that have been buried underground for thousands of years. Over time, minerals in the surrounding earth gradually transform the ivory, creating rich variations in color, texture, and pattern unique to each piece. Shades can range from warm creams and honey tones to deep browns, blues, and greens, depending on the soil and mineral composition where the ivory was preserved. Much of the fossilized ivory used by our artists is responsibly sourced from Alaska, where these remarkable materials are uncovered and given new life through Native American jewelry artistry.
