Elle recueille sa propre argile naturelle dans les collines du pueblo de Santa Clara.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eVickie nettoie, mélange, enroule à la main, façonne, sculpte, cuit, puis polit sa poterie de manière traditionnelle. Vickie a été citée comme disant: \"Je trouve que la sculpture est une expérience très stimulante et enrichissante, que j'apprécie à fond.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eComme toutes les bonnes poteries de Santa Clara, la haute brillance de ses pots est obtenue en polissant la surface avec une pierre lisse - un processus très fastidieux. Trois et parfois jusqu'à cinq couches de barbotine sont appliquées sur le travail lisse et séché, laissant un temps entre les couches pour sécher, puis suivies d'une couche lubrifiante de graisse animale. La graisse sert à deux fins : premièrement, elle permet à la pierre de glisser en douceur sur la surface, et deuxièmement, elle garde la barbotine humide.
