Elle a fréquenté un internat à Santa Fe et rentrait à la maison le week-end et en été. Ses frères et sa sœur ont également fréquenté l’école indienne de Santa Fe et ils ont tous apprécié leur expérience. Il y a 19 tribus qui fréquentent l'école de tout le pays. Janalee est ensuite allée à l'université dans une école de métiers à Albuquerque et a obtenu son baccalauréat en ingénierie. On lui a proposé un emploi, mais c'était sur une grande plate-forme pétrolière au milieu de l'océan. Elle adore San Felipe et ne voulait pas quitter la maison. Elle adore ça et sa mère dit que Janalee est une créatrice de bijoux naturels.
