Pic d'Ithaque

The Ithaca Peak Turquoise mine is located in the Mineral Park Mining District of Mohave County, Arizona, in the same general region as the Kingman and Turquoise Mountain mines. Ithaca Peak is especially known for producing high-grade turquoise with deep blue color, often accented by striking pyrite inclusions and, at times, quartz or dark spiderweb matrix. These metallic pyrite flecks are one of the signature features that distinguish Ithaca Peak from many other Arizona stones.

Because of its hardness, rich color, and unusual matrix, Ithaca Peak turquoise has become highly collectible and is especially prized in fine Southwestern jewelry. Some of the best material from this mine shows an intense blue color with heavy silver-colored pyrite, giving the stone a bold and dramatic look that collectors immediately recognize.
