She lives with her family in New Mexico and enjoys playing basketball after school.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eFaith first started helping her mom make jewelry when she was 9 years old.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eShe enjoys making jewelry and wants to keep the bead making tradition alive.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eFaith comes from a long line of famous bead makers.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eHer great-great grandmother, Annie Bahe Begay, was a Navajo weaver and taught her granddaughter \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.garlands.com\/collections\/ruby-haley\"\u003eRuby\u003c\/a\u003e (who is Faith’s grandmother) the art of bead making when she was only six years old. Ruby is the only grandchild who kept her grandparents’ bead making tradition going\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eThe Haley family use very traditional methods for crafting their silver bead necklaces. After dapping them (making them curved), they grind the silver beads on a rock and string them on a binder wire. After stringing the beads, they use Borax to clean them and then sand all the edges. Once the necklace is completed, they use a polishing wheel to give each silver necklace its bright appearance. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eAfter making their jewelry, the Haley family burns sage and prays over each piece.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e  \u003c\/span\u003eThey pray that whoever wears their jewelry will be blessed, have good health, and happiness.\u003c\/p\u003e","products":[],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0610\/6305\/collections\/faith-anderson-garland-s_d7c24b5d-3760-4893-be16-9dc4bd2a2a58.png?v=1747950961","url":"https:\/\/garlands.com\/collections\/faith-anderson.oembed","provider":"Garland's","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
